“In the beginning, God…”
God said it and it came to be. Just like that? What an incomprehensible measure of power!
“Then God said, ….”
Genesis 1:3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 20, 24, 26
Create….
Church ended few hours ago, I had an amazing lunch with some friends and now I sit all alone looking up to catch the sunset. I see the clouds moving, especially the dark grey ones. It’s mind-tantalizing to imagine that some of these clouds, the cumulonimbus clouds will collide and cause lightnings and thunders in a rainstorm someday. I am intrigued as I remember that these clouds affect the temperature and general weather conditions outdoors where I am seated right now.
“By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. … For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.”
Psalms 33:6, 9

God created a system where each part affects and is affected by other parts of His creation. It reminds me of other of God’s creations that also caught my attention this week – the brain and the heart. In very simple terms, the brain is the control centre, managing how we think, feel, receiving from and giving commands to other parts of the body. On the other hand, the heart serves as a transport system, a pump that pushes blood alongside oxygen and nutrients around the body.

Recreate….
These two organs – the brain and the heart have very little regeneration capability. Organs like the skin, liver, muscle and bones in the right body conditions have greater chances. One way I explain regeneration to myself is to imagine that my toilet is able to fix itself without a plumber, as long as I keep it clean. 😂 Regeneration is the body’s process of repairing and replacing damaged or lost cells.

A New Heart
The same God that said “Let Us make man in Our image…” (Genesis 1:26) also says He can give man a new heart. He is able to create a new creature (2 Corinthians 5:17), but He does not go ahead to create the new heart without permission of the being. In fact, He pleads that we let Him help us.
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”
Ezekiel 36:26 NKJV
Why do we need a new heart? How do we know when we have gotten a new heart?
God created man perfect in all ways but sin entered the equation and mankind’s life has remained tainted ever since. Sicknesses, wickedness, selfishness, pride and everything that do not depict God’s character, have been the result. Yet, all these were not in God’s original creation. Our first parents chose to distrust their creator and just like every product that goes against the blueprint, there has been tragedy upon tragedy in terrible collapse.
“The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God. They have all turned aside, They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one.”
Psalms 14:2-3 NKJV
- Question – Is anyone good?
- Answer – Sadly, not even one person.
- Question – Is there hope that we can return to God’s original plan?
- Answer – Yes, the Creator is very much wiling to help in fact!
Just as the universe is governed by rules, we are too. The reaction to our action of sin (going against our source of life) is death, but God decided to take that “punishment” for us, to die for us. When we accept His gift, we are saying “God, I allow you to take the death I deserve so I can receive life from you”. We become justified!😃 He doesn’t stop at that, He also goes on to make us new people who act like Him and actually enjoy being like Him.
“Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You.”
Psalms 119:11 NKJV
“Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”
John 17:17 NKJV
Her Father’s Daughter!

We are like a clay pot that’s dented yet very much usable. Even much more, God doesn’t leave me with the dents but remoulds and recreates. I testify that God has helped me to hate many of the things I did before that did not glorify Him and start up many habits that bring me closer to being like Him each day. As with all things worthwhile, this requires time.
When it comes to cooking with a clay pot, it is not advisable after cooking to put the hot pot in a sink and bathe it with cold water. There’s a high chance it would break. God is referred to as Potter (Isaiah 45:9). He understands this material very well and knows how to work with it, leading us gently, firmly and in truth. He chooses to be patient with us. He is able to sanctify BUT only if we let Him.
God already created you, would you let Him recreate you?
